Jose Camcho, 16, 516 High Street, Thomasville, NC was charged with Felonious Speeding to Elude Arrest, Driving While Impaired, Driving While Impaired by Provisional Licensee, No Operator’s License, Speeding, Reckless Driving, Left of Center, and Running a Red Light all due to a chase with Cramerton Police that ended when Camcho crashed his 1996 Geo Prizm.
Cramerton Police Officer T.N. Jones attempted to stop Camcho on Market Street at approximately 11:30 P.M. on Thanksgiving night after witnessing Camcho run a red light and drive his vehicle in a reckless manner. Camcho refused to stop and continued southbound on Market Street. Camcho struck a bridge railing and continued South on Cramerton Road. Camcho ran a red light at Cramerton Road and Lowell Bethesda Road where he continued straight into a convenience store parking lot striking a dumpster. The dumpster was pushed into several parked cars and into an occupied dwelling, displacing the occupants. No one was hurt inside the home. Gastonia Police are investigating the crash due to the crash occurring within their jurisdiction.
Camcho was extricated from his vehicle and transported by ground to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte where he was admitted. Camcho’s physical arrest is pending his release from Carolina’s Medical Center.
